Kornorientiertes Elektroband ist wegen seiner ausgezeichneten magnetischen Eigenschaften in Walzrichtung die bevorzugte Wahl für Transformatoren. HGO-Sorten weisen im Vergleich zu Standard-(RGO)-Sorten geringere Verluste und höhere magnetische Induktion auf.
