NGO - Wind Generators

Non-oriented (NGO) electrical steels for a better performing wind generator.

Our commitment to sustainability allows us to produce a higher performing electrical steel. For example, BioEnergia, our responsibly-managed eucalyptus forestry in Brazil, provides us with a charcoal replacement for coke. This results in lower levels of sulfur and other contaminants which, when combined with various process parameters, lets us improve the texture and magnetization of our electrical steels. Along with our grades’ high permeability, it all adds up to a better performing wind generator.
NGO is widely used to extract the maximum output of energy in Wind Generators.

Electrical steel behind the world’s second particle accelerator

The Sirius Project is one of the world’s second particle accelerator. It is also the largest, most complex scientific infrastructure ever built in Brazil. Needing a material that could support a highly magnetic product, Aperam’s E233 was the natural choice. That’s because E233’s high electrical permeability results in low magnetic losses – an essential characteristic to the accelerator’s functioning. E233 is also commonly used in wind turbines and electric motors, along with the airtight compressors used in refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units.
