Alloys are designed and elaborated at the Imphy melt shop, which is highly regarded for its expertise in metallurgy and in-depth knowledge about applications. This means there’s an alloy suited for your specific need.
Below, list of our main grades, if you can not find yours, contact us. On request, we can study and propose other formats than those proposed as standard.
Special Stainlesss Steels: on request, heats with specific analysis can be melt.

Cladded Metal
ICS produces custom clad metal combinations. Clad Metal is a composite of two or more dissimilar metals, metallurgically bonded together to
achieve improved functional characteristic and potentially substantial economic benefits.
ICS clad material includes two layers, three layers, five layers and even more combinations of different metals in the thickness ranging form 0.11
mm to 4.0 mm and width ranging from 5 mm to 400 mm; with layer ratios of 3% and above.
Controlled Expansion Alloys
These grades, like INVAR, the flagship reference, are characterised by extremely low thermal expansion coefficient or adapted CTE to specific material such as glass, ceramics or silicon, combined with good stampability and formability characteristics.
Sealing with glass: the specificity of these alloys is an expanded coefficient that matches to borosilicate glasses and ceramics. They are mainly used in electronics.
Special expansion alloys have an optimal chemical composition to obtain hermetic seals.
Very low expansion coefficient alloys are characterised by a very low thermal coefficient from cryogenic to ambient temperature, (INVAR M93 grade) or between room temperature and 200°C (usual INVAR). The low expansion disappears when temperatures rise above the Curie point (230°C in the case of INVAR).

Magnetic Alloys
- These grades are remarkable, thanks to their high permeability and high magnetic induction for applications where weight and volume are critical, plus they have excellent cutting, stamping, welding and heat treatment capabilities.
- Soft Co-Fe magnetic alloys with very high saturation induction, Iron-Cobalt High Magnetic Saturation Alloys or high Magnetic Saturation are used for their power to-weight and volume ratio.
- Soft Ni-Fe magnetic alloys with very high permeability and low coercivity. Exceptional magnetic permeability. Very low coercive force. Possibility of lowering the remanence by magnetic field annealing (cores).
- Ni-Fe temperature compensating magnetic alloys. High temperature dependence of the saturation magnetisation around room temperature.
- Soft Ni-Fe magnetic alloys with high permeability and high saturation induction. High electrical resistivity combined with satisfactory magnetic permeability.

Special Alloys
- Special alloys are developed for specific uses and are gathered according to the particular applications for which they were fitted. Corrosion and oxidation resistant Alloys.
- The corrosion resistant alloys are used in harsh conditions like increasingly deep offshore wells (high pressures, high temperatures, increasingly corrosive fluids).
- Some other grades offer excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation that can be coupled with high mechanical properties.
- A wide range of nickel alloys dedicated to the welding, joining or surfacing are available, especially in wire rod shape and, to a lesser extent, into strip product. These grades are usually used in waste incineration, paper, oil & gas industry, offshore, etc.
